Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal data Adventurometer collects, why, how we look after it, and the choices and rights you have. Adventurometer is an AI game master for voice-first tabletop roleplaying on Basic Roleplaying.
Who we are
Adventurometer is operated by Fieldcraft Creative Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, trading as In a Tavern (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, email keeper@adventurometer.com. Our registered company number and registered office are available on request.
What we collect
- Account data: your email address, optional display name, and date of birth. Date of birth is used only to apply age-appropriate content settings, never for marketing.
- Gameplay data: the campaigns, characters, journals, dice rolls, and the turn-by-turn event log you create while playing.
- Voice input: when you use push-to-talk, the short audio clip is sent to our speech-to-text provider to transcribe what you said. We do not retain the raw audio after transcription.
- Billing data: if you subscribe, our payment provider (Stripe) processes your card details. We never see or store full card numbers; we keep your subscription status and the customer and subscription identifiers Stripe returns.
- Usage and product analytics: first-party events such as page views, where you reach in the free trial, and whether you subscribe, tied to a random anonymous identifier stored in your browser. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site-tracking cookies.
- Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, request metadata) kept briefly for security and to keep the service running.
How we use it, and our lawful bases
- To provide the service (run your games, save your progress, take your turns, render art and voice). Lawful basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To take payment and manage your subscription. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To keep the service secure, working, and improving (analytics, debugging, fraud prevention, capacity planning). Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running a reliable, sustainable product, balanced against your rights.
- To apply age-appropriate content. Lawful basis: performance of a contract and our legitimate interest in player safety.
- To send you service emails (sign-in links, receipts, important notices). Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
AI processing of your gameplay
To narrate your adventure, the text of your turns and the relevant story context are sent to our AI model providers, which generate the game master’s responses. Voice narration and transcription use speech providers, and character and scene art use image providers. The rules engine resolves every dice roll and number deterministically, so the AI never adjudicates outcomes. These providers process your content on our behalf to return a result. We do not permit them to use your gameplay to train their models where that option is available to us.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We use a small number of trusted processors to run Adventurometer, each handling data only on our instructions:
- Hosting and database providers (to run the app and store your account and games).
- An authentication provider and an email delivery provider (for sign-in links and notices).
- A payment provider (Stripe) for subscriptions.
- AI model, voice, and image providers that generate gameplay responses and art.
We may also disclose data if required by law, or to protect our rights, our users, or the safety of others.
International transfers
Some of our processors are based outside the UK and the EEA, including in the United States. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active. If you delete a campaign it is removed from your view and then purged. If you close your account we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep limited records (for example billing records for tax purposes). Server logs are kept only briefly.
Licensing enquiries and waiting lists
If you contact us through the licensors form, we keep what you give us (your name, work email, company, role, the property you represent, what interests you and your message) so that we can reply about licensing. We rely on our legitimate interest in answering an enquiry you chose to make. We keep licensing enquiry details for up to 24 months after our last contact with you, then delete them. Ask at any time and we will delete them sooner. If you tick the box to hear about Adventurometer licensing news, we will email you about that until you tell us to stop, and every such email says how. If you join a waiting list on this site, we keep your email address until that feature opens or you ask us to remove it, and we only email you about the thing you asked for. These details are stored by Neon (our database host) and emails are sent through Resend; both act only on our instructions. To ask for a copy, a correction or deletion, email the address below (keeper@adventurometer.com). If we invite you to the beta, we keep your email address and the invitation until you accept it, it lapses or you ask us to remove it, and we use it only to send that invitation.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email keeper@adventurometer.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), though we would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
Adventurometer is not directed at young children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13. We collect date of birth to apply age-appropriate content controls. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
Cookies
We use a small set of cookies and similar local storage to keep you signed in and to measure how the product is used. See our Cookie Policy for the detail.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will change the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app or by email.
